Lumulutang (Floating Dining Table)

2022. Solid maple.

This dining table was designed by us with inspiration from East Asian designers like Ishitani and Kobeomsuk. The negative space between the top and the main structure of the table creates a feeling of lightness that can be hard to achieve with a piece this large and heavy. The legs and ladder frame are joined with mortice and tenons and the top has breadboard detailing. The table disassembles into 6 different parts with M10 nuts and steel threaded inserts.

Lumulutang is Tagalog for ‘floating’.
