Payak (Refectory Stools)
2022. White oak.
These stools were a commission to replicate some old refectory-style stools in white oak. The original stools had been stained a dark reddish tone and our client wanted something more modern and fresh. The shape of these stools is classic and easily recognisable; they fit a multitude of interior designs styles with ease.
The top of the stools have a handle detail routed out and gently rounded corners. The stretchers and legs are joined with mortice and tenons whilst the aprons are joined with loose tenons.
Payak is Tagalog for simple or basic.
